By Darrell Morrow Feature Editor The Small Business Administration Prime Contractor of the Year Administrator's Award of Excellence for Oklahoma was presented Wednesday to Armondo R. Pena, 41, president of Allied Resources Inc., 120 E. Sheridan

The presentation was made at Pena's office by W. Bruce Robinson, Oklahoma district director of U.S. Small Business Administration.

"Allied Resources is an excellent contractor who was selected by the national SBA office to receive this award, and we heartily concur," Robinson said.

Pena was nominated for the award by Air Force and base personnel of the Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base. Pena and Allied Resources had a multi-year contract renewed annually from 1980 until spring 1991 with the Air Force to provide audio-visual services including photography, graphic services such as production of charts, signs and other presentation materials, and videos for training at Tinker.

His last annual contract for graphic and training support services was for $1.2 million, said Betty Thomas, small business specialist at Tinker.

Pena was graded on evaluation by all supervisors at Tinker with a perfect score of 10 for service and performance, Thomas said.

Thomas and David Bargohls, chief of the Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Office at Tinker, said Tinker personnel were impressed that Pena had frequently reinvested from his contract proceeds in new and improved equipment on the base to do a better job.

Pena employed 27 people to provide the support services at Tinker.

Since conclusion of the Tinker contract the company employs four people and is concentrating on its commercial business under both the Allied Resources name and a sister company, Wordtown Electronic Publishing & Design. …
