The sixth annual Oklahomans for Quality Conference, a workshop on the strategy and tools for total quality management, is scheduled Sept. 28-29 at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, the university extension said.
The conference, designed by the OSU-OKC Quality Planning Committee, will include presentations by individuals experienced in developing total quality management strategy and activities, plant tours of organizations implementing total quality management, and exhibits from organizations known for their active quality processes and achievement.
The program will address topics such as the meaning of executive commitment and the importance of organizational self-assessment, strategic planning, stretch goals and communication.
Both days of the conference will have presentations during the morning and a plant tour in the afternoon. Speakers scheduled for Sept. 28 are: Paula Marshall Chapman, general partner and chief executive officer of Bama Pie Ltd. of Tulsa, will present "Quality: The First Ingredient Every Time." Savvy magazine recognized Chapman as one of the top 60 women executives in the nation in 1987 and 1988. She serves on the board of directors and the executive committee of the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce. Bob Hartman, senior staff engineer-Malcolm Baldrige coordinator for AT T Oklahoma City Works, will deliver "AT T Malcolm Baldrige _ `A Journey Begun Well.' " Hartman has served as a quality consultant on American Telephone Telegraph Co. international joint venture projects, and has been with AT T for 33 years. "Staple Yourself to an Order" will be presented by Robert Franklin Browne, chairman of the board and chief executive officer for Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Co. …
