Assisted living centers proposed in Midwest City and Yukon are among a handful of such facilities planned in central Oklahoma.
Sterling House Corp. of Wichita is planning its second metro area assisted living center in Midwest City, on Blueridge Dr. west of N. Air Depot Blvd.
Corridor Properties LLC, a subsidiary of Sterling House, purchased the property for $92,146 in November from George and Ann Mason.
Proposed is a one-level building to house 33 studio and one-bedroom apartments ranging from 300 to 500 square feet. The project is still under approval by Midwest City officials, but construction could start this month for a June or July opening.
Design work for Sterling House properties is done by another subsidiary, Buchanan Homes. A general contractor has not been named.
The center will employ 12 to 15 people. The first Sterling House in Oklahoma opened last year in Bethany, and two others are under construction in Bartlesville and Ponca City.
A company spokesperson said Sterling House has a total of five centers under construction and 15 operating in Kansas and Oklahoma.
L.S. Consultants of Oklahoma City is planning a 40-unit assisted living center, Ridgewood Estates, at 2600 N. Mustang Rd. in Yukon.
Although the center will be just south of the Ranchwood Nursing Center, Project Manager Norman Scott said operations and ownership are independent. He did note, however, that assisted living centers are transitional facilities for tenants who will later enter nursing centers.
Construction on the 24,000-square-foot assisted living center should start around March, after city approval processes are complete, Scott said. …
