When Dianne M. Jones saw that more and more people were becoming as interested in the wine industry as she was, she knew she could combine her talents for marketing, promotion and graphic design with her passion for chardonnays and burgundies.
Her company, Vine By Design, creates Web sites, newsletters and specialty items to promote Oklahoma wines and wineries.
"This industry is really young, and it's so exciting to be a part of how it's shaping up, how it's going to turn out," said Jones, from her company office in Okmulgee.
"It's such a labor of love for me."
Seven years ago, the wine industry in Oklahoma was nearly nonexistent.
It wasn't until the state Legislature passed a measure in 2000 that would enable wineries to sell directly to their customers without the hassle of locating a distributor that grape-growing and wine-making would really begin to flourish.
Now, Jones' client list includes many of Oklahoma's more than 30 wineries.
"It's been exciting to witness Oklahoma's rapidly growing wine industry blossom," Jones said. "We work with vineyards and wineries to network with customers and buyers, promote new products and generate a larger customer base."
Since her clients are, for the most part, small businesses, she is committed to providing them with fast, no-nonsense, problem solving and innovation.
Some of her clients include Nuyaka Creek Winery, Sailing Horse Vineyards, Plain View Winery, Tidal School Vineyards, Stable Ridge Vineyards and the Canadian River Winery.
She updates the sites on a regular basis and also helps her clients create e-mail newsletters to inform their customers of upcoming special events, festivals and new products. …
