Sherry Howell knew she wanted to teach since she was in kindergarten. After graduating from high school, she kept that dream alive and completed her bachelor's in education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
While teaching in public and private school, she started an in- home tutoring service. Today, her firm Education Motivation (a subsidiary of Howell and Associates) helps clients prepare for everything from gaining their GED to passing the ACT, LSAT, Realtors exam and policeman's and fireman's tests just to name a few. She also tests 2- to 10-year-olds for academic readiness.
Howell's love for education does not stop there. Together with eight other women, Howell co-founded Women of the South to award scholarships to south Oklahoma City area high schools. A grant is also awarded to an elementary school each year as well. Her co- founders include Linda Neiman, Cindy Benson, Gwyn Day, Marynel Chabino, Joyce Evans, Carol McDonald, Syndy Thrash and Deborah Venard.
In addition, Howell is founder and past president of the Oklahoma City Community College Foundation, co-founder of the Moore Public School Foundation and co-founder of the Oklahoma Christian Academy Foundation. She also is involved with the Civic Center Foundation and the Integris Southwest Medical Center Foundation.
"Sherry Howell is a compassionate woman who never stops helping people...young or old...helping these individuals who cross her path each day. Her involvement over the years in numerous civic and community organizations has resonated success stories across the state of Oklahoma," said Patricia Berryhill, executive director of the Oklahoma City Community College Foundation. …
