Microsoft Corp. and Progressive Networks Announce Streaming Media Collaboration

Microsoft Corp. and Progressive Networks, Inc. have announced an agreement between the two companies, saying that it will help to define industry standards for the streaming media market and accelerate the growth of real-time audio and video on the Internet and corporate intranets. Microsoft will license Progressive Networks' RealAudio and RealVideo, and Progressive Networks plans aggressive support of fundamental Microsoft technologies. As part of the agreement, Microsoft has also made a minority investment in Progressive Networks.
