Information Handling Services (IHS) has announced two CD-ROM-based reference sources to help the petroleum industry identify and comply with industry regulations. The first product is an electronic version of the API Technical Data Book and the second is a reference tool that contains regulations from the Mineral Management Service.
API Technical Data Book
The recently introduced CD-ROM version of the API Technical Data Book is a source for physical and thermodynamic property data, correlations, and calculational procedures for practicing engineers.
"IHS has had a long, productive partner.ship with the American Petroleum Institute," said Pat Romich, president of IHS Engineering. "We are continually working with them to find better ways to bring critical petroleum-related information to the engineers that need it. CDROM delivery of this important data allows for faster results. This addition enhances our comprehensive offering of API information services."
The API Technical Data Book contains 15 detailed chapters containing general data; characterization of fractions; ASTM-TBP-EFV relationships; critical properties; and key data detailing vapor pressure, density, thermal properties, vapor-liquid equilibria, water solubility, surface tension, viscosity, thermal conductivity, diffusivity, and combustion. Fast access to this valuable information allows petroleum engineers to improve the design and operation of petroleum refineries, make a product's RVP closer to the regulated value, better define the volatility characteristics of petroleum fractions and other complex mixtures, and better predict thermal conductivity.
The API Technical Data Book is available as part of IHS's comprehensive Worldwide Standards Service Plus product. The CD-ROM contains complete scanned document images and can be searched by document/chapter number, keyword, or subject.
In addition to the API Technical Data Book, the Worldwide Standards Service Plus also contains bibliographic data on over 300,000 standards from over 440 of the world's leading standards organizations as well as scanned document images of over 175,000 complete …
