I have admired Judith Forst for more than 20 years, and have worked with her on three theatre and five television productions over the same period. But nothing could have prepared me for the revelation of her performance as Kostelnicka this spring in the Vancouver Opera production of Janacek's Jenufa. After a performance of such searing intensity, so dramatic and gut - wrenching in its humanity, it was obvious that Forst has reached a new plateau in her career.
