The cleanup of Kuwait reached a milestone in mid-September, as crews working to put out the environmentally and economically devastating oil field fires raging throughout that Gulf country capped their 375th well--the halfway point in repairing the largest oil field disaster in history.
The well, which was burning at a rate of 7,000 barrels a day, was capped by a firefighting crew from Safety Boss, a Canadian firm whose Kuwait operations are being directed by Jarvis Jackson. The importance of the Sept. 10 event was not lost on Jackson, who is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
