LEWITT, SOL

ləwĭtˈ, 1928–, American artist, b. Hartford, Conn. LeWitt terms his work conceptual art, emphasizing the idea or concept as its most important aspect. His modular cubes and grid structures, wall drawings, and serial graphics reflect his study of mathematics. His work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art, New York City.
