əmbändäˈkä, formerly Coquilhatvillekôkēyävēlˈ, city (1984 pop. 137,291), capital of Équateur province, W Congo (Kinshasa), a port on the Congo River. It is a commercial and transportation center and has tanning and fishing industries.
