Malaysia - məlāˈzhə, independent federation (2001 est. pop. 22,229,000), 128,430 sq mi (332,633 sq km), Southeast Asia. The official capital and by far the largest city is Kuala Lumpur. Work on the new administrative capital, Putrajaya, located between Kuala Lumpur and its international airport, was begun in the mid-1990s.
