Gender Sensitizatization and Violence against Women in Present Society

ABSTRACT

A Gender is the term used for the socially assigned roles given to men and women. Gender Sensitizatization is the process of understanding how this socialization creates inequalities between men and women (and girl and boy children). A Gender is the political, economic and social equality given to men and women, girls and boys by the Constitution of India. However, the lack of social and economic equality means that we have to work towards gender equity and gender justice in the world around us. This will help in creating a more just and progressive society. Violence in any context against women is not acceptable. No one has the right to abuse another. The universal definition is physical, sexual and psychological violence, occurring in the home, in the community, in the workplace or by the State. Violence occurs when someone tries to gain power at the expense of someone else that is less powerful. The need of the study provides constitution article, and realize women development is necessary for the overall development of the nation. To know the gender sensitization and to review the violence against women in present society. Paper discussion comprises role of the women, the role of the police officer, the Government's role in protecting the women's from violence, exploitation and harassment.

INTRODUCTION

As a citizen of the Indian you have special responsibilities and powers to protect your community. Therefore there is a need for direct, positive and proactive interventions. A Gender is the term used for the socially constructed roles given to men and women. Gender Sensitizatization is the process of understanding how this socialization creates inequalities between men and women . Gender sensitization means a population of men, women and children of different class, caste, ethnic, religious and language backgrounds. It is essential that all people understand the issues related to women and children especially girls. As professional attitudes are influenced by social or personal values, it is important for all of us to examine our perspectives towards different people, in order to become more people- friendly and sensitive to cases of violence against women and children. Gender equality is the political equality given to men and women, girls and boys by the Constitution of India. However, the lack of social and economic equality means that we have to work towards gender equity and gender justice in the world around us. This will help in creating a more just and progressive society. Violence in any context is not acceptable no one has the right to abuse another the violence is physical, sexual and psychological violence, occurring in the home, in the community, in the workplace or by the State. Violence occurs when someone tries to gain power at the expense of someone else that is less powerful. All over the world, individuals, organizations and governments understand and accept the need to combat violence of any kind, particularly against women and children. (People friendly Police, Karnataka 2003). A police station's jurisdiction covers a population of men, women and children of different class, caste, ethnic, religious and language backgrounds. Women's comprise half of this population. It is important for all of us to examine our perspectives towards different people, in order to become more people-friendly and sensitive to cases of violence against women and children. What started as a response to perceived law and order issue has now transformed into a social responsibility which the Special Police Unit (Women & Children), Delhi Police is proudly and diligently sharing by having Crime Women Cells in all the Police Districts of Delhi since 1986 to assist women suffering from dowry harassment and exploitation cruelty in their matrimonial life.
