- Smirnoff Sensations
Smirnoff has brought its Sensations dance night to the UK for the first time, featuring artists Mr White, Eric E, Joris Voorn and Fedde Le Grand. RPM created the experiential activity for Smirnoff's 'Ocean of White' evening at The O2 arena, London, on Saturday, including fountains set on a giant dancefloor, stage performances, light shows, lasers and fireworks.
- Badger's makeover
Badger, the ale brand owned by Hall & Woodhouse, will be relaunched with a fresh packaging design. The company hired branding agency BrandOpus to create a look that would evoke Badger's positioning as a 'countryside ale'. The designs, featuring images of animals, will run across its Golden Glory, England's Own, and Golden Champion ales.
- Lucozade ad debuts
Lucozade Energy, the GlaxoSmithKline-owned sports energy drink, has released a third music-focused ad as part of its 'Yes' campaign. The 90-second TV ad, created by Grey London, focuses on the Lucozade Original brand and features an unsigned band, The James Cleaver Quintet, covering Feeder's 2001 hit, Buck Rogers. The ad broke over the weekend.
- Revlon gets Wilde
Revlon has appointed Olivia Wilde, star of US teen drama series The OC, and Golden Globe-nominee Emma Stone as its global brand ambassadors Stone and Wilde will become the faces of Revlon products, appearing in global campaigns across TV, print, in-store and digital platforms. The actresses will join current Revlon brand ambassadors Elle McPherson, Jessica Alba and Halle Berry.
- Betfair's beach bums
Betfair, the online betting brand, last week placed QR codes on the bikini bottoms of two beach volleyball players during the test Olympics tournament. Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin agreed to wear bikini bottoms with quick-response codes printed on to them. When the codes are photographed by a smartphone, the user is directed to a registration page to join Betfair and offered a free bet.
- Hotel's social service
Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, a luxury property on the Balearic island, has unveiled what it claims is the first hotel Facebook synchronisation system. Guests are offered a wristband to wear, which is synchronised with their Facebook profile. Facebook 'pillars' are set up throughout the hotel, where guests can check in, take pictures or post a status update on the social network by swiping the wristband across a sensor.
- PBS hires Edwards
PBS, the US public broadcasting TV service set to launch in the UK, has hired Rebecca Edwards as its head of PR and marketing. The TV channel will be available to 10.3m customers via the Sky platform from 1 November. The UK channel is a joint venture between David Lyons, a Canadian-born entrepreneur and 'venture philanthropist', and PBS Distribution, which holds the international rights for most of PBS' output.
