- St Lucia promotion

St Lucia Distillers, maker of Chairman's Reserve rum, has launched a promotion in partnership with Sainsbury's, British Airways and Rendezvous Hotels. As part of the activity, running this month, consumers will be invited to concoct a recipe for a rum cocktail to be in with a chance to win a holiday to St Lucia.

- John Lewis triumphs

John Lewis has won The Marketing Society's Brand of the Year award for the second time running, staving off both British Airways and Foster's The retailer was voted for by more than 1000 marketers at the society's annual dinner last week at Old Billingsgate.

- TUI promotes Ellis

Jeremy Ellis, head of marketing at TUI Travel, has been promoted to the role of marketing director with immediate effect. Ellis, who has been with TUI in various roles for 20 years, is the first to hold the position since the departure of former customer director Tim Williamson in September last year. Christian Cull, director of communications at TUI and a former marketing director at Waitrose, is leaving his role amid the shake-up. It is not known whether he has another job to go to.

- Daisley at Twitter

Google's Bruce Daisley has been poached by Twitter to become its first UK commercial director. He will be responsible for creating an advertising business for Twitter, encouraging brands to use the microblogging platform. He will also have the task of building a sales team. Daisley has worked at Google for the past three years, having joined the business as head of display before becoming director of YouTube and display at Google UK.

Playing2 gets shirty Sports brands will soon offer fans the opportunity to have images of their faces transposed onto the shirt number worn by their sporting heroes. The Playing2 imaging innovation, developed in Spain, is used by La Liga football club Sevilla. It is set to debut in the UK next year, when the Welsh Rugby Union will offer fans the chance to have their photos on their chosen shirt number during the RBS 6 Nations tournament.

- Seven hires Stilwell

Rachael Stilwell, the former publishing director of Haymarket's Brand Republic Group, has been hired by content-marketing agency Seven to head its B2B division. Stilwell, who will join Seven in January, will be responsible for growing the agency's existing B2B portfolio, as well as leading its growth strategy.

- Barclaycard's treat

Barclaycard is extending its ongoing 'Easier' brand campaign with a Christmas promotion that promises to make the festive season easier for consumers. Alongside outdoor and print ads, the payment brand is rolling out a Facebook competition offering people the chance to win one of 24 experiences, such as pop star Olly Murs singing carols on their doorstep.
