RSuite User Conference: Measuring Innovation

This year, the RSuite User Conference moved to a new venue to make room for more attendees for the fifth annual meeting in Philadelphia. More than 170 guests arrived at the Chemical Heritage Foundation to hear real-time case studies highlighting ways to build a better digital publishing strategy through RSuite CMS.

"The attendees have changed in the past 5 years," says Barry Bealer, CEO and co-founder of Really Strategies, Inc., which was ranked on Inc. magazine's 50015000 list of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S. for 2011. "In the early years, we had mostly technical people, but today, we have more CEOs and CMOs." Bealer reports that the company is unveiling more enhancements to its product line to meet the needs of the changing publishing industry.

Highlights of the daylong conference included presentations and panel discussions with staffers who helped with the RSuite CMS integration at Oxford University Press; SLACK, Inc.; ASTD (American Society for Training & Development); Wolters Kluwer; Triumph Learning; Elsevier Health Sciences; and the American Institute of Physics.

In the first closing keynote, Bill Trippe, vice president and lead analyst of Outsell, Inc.'s Gilbane Services, provided an overview of the global ebook market, including metrics that tracked the expected growth of ebooks on a chart displaying a decidedly strong upswing.

For the second keynote, Evan Schnittman, managing director of group sales and marketing of print and digital at Bloomsbury Publishing, PLC, shared details about a publishing deal that may turn out to be a viable business model. …
