Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) has announced that it has expanded the number of products and capabilities now offered on its Internet site, located at http://www.dnb.com.

D&B Internet Access for U.S. contract customers now offers quick and easy access to additional U.S. credit and global information plus the capability to create reports customized to users' needs. In addition to the Business Information Report, Comprehensive Report, Payment Analysis Report, Credit Score Report, and Supplier Evaluation Report (which became available on the Internet early last year), contract customers can also obtain the Business Background Report, Dun's Financial Profile, Industry Norm Report, Model Statement Report, D&B ID, Underwriting Services, 12 industry-specific credit score reports, and the Financial Stress Score Report.

The newly available capabilities allow customers to locate a company from D&B's WorldBase, which offers a variety of information on more than 43 million companies worldwide. Lists of companies can also be created for identifying new potential suppliers, research, marketing, and competitive analysis. Another new option is the ability to order family linkage information on more than a million corporate families worldwide. A convenient download function now allows customers to import lists or family linkage into spreadsheet software for data manipulation and management.

"We will continue to refine our Web offering and leverage its potential in exceeding customers' needs," said Joan Rothman, D&B's senior vice president of marketing. "The enhancements to D&B Internet Access give users greater capability to access the information they need at the touch of a button from the same Internet browser many are already using."

According to the company, D&B Internet Access for U.S. contract customers provides full descriptions and samples of each available product to speed the decision-making process. New Visitor Help, Customer Assistance, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) appear on the main menu to assist users in easily navigating to their chosen destination. To access D&B products using D&B Internet Access, customers need a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)-enabled browser, Web access, and a DunsLink ID and password. D&B recommends that customers use the latest version of Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.0 or higher) for maximum utility. D&B and IBM

Dun & Bradstreet has also announced that it and IBM intend to deliver identitychecking capability and an initiative for content distribution over public and private networks.

The announcement includes plans to improve online identity checks by linking D&B's business data with IBM's World Registry, software for checking the identity of companies doing business on the Internet; and plans to distribute and sell D&B reports using IBM's DataBolt components and Cryptolope containers, IBM's leading information access and copyright management technology.

"The combination of D&B's database of over 43 million businesses, its extensive data collections, monitoring and physical presence worldwide, and IBM's World Registry service will help establish a level of trust for Internet-based electronic commerce applications," said Frank Fitzsimmons, D&B's senior vice president of global electronic commerce. …
