Islam-What Catholics Need to Know

Why? And Why Now?

These two important and timely questions are addressed and answered in clear, concise detail in a new book, "Islam: What Catholics Need to Know."

Why? Because since Vatican II the church has called for greater understanding of other religions. Because, like Christians and Jews, Muslims worship the one, same God and thus stand in a special relationship with Christianity and Judaism.

Why Now? Because Islam has become the second largest religion on the planet. (There are more Muslims in the United States than there are Episcopalians or Presbyterians.) Because Muslims are increasingly more visible in our society and most Roman Catholics are not prepared for the growing presence of Islam in the United States.

Author Elias D. Mallon, a priest of the Society of the Atonement, has been involved in interreligous dialogue for many years.
