Here's a CD-ROM that teaches educators about the Internet using an interactive, tutorial-type approach. It works for both Macintosh and Windows platforms.

When you load the CD you can check out the exact hardware and software requirements before beginning your session. Make sure everything is set up correctly so you can enjoy the multimedia that accompanies the instruction.

From the "Main Menu" or "Welcome" screen you will see a list of menu items. To see the complete list of modules available, start out with the "Academic Directory" "The Guidance Counselor" module is the place to look if you don't know exactly how much training you need. Here you can take a brief survey and find out which course suits your training needs first.

The courses are easy to navigate, with a main menu at top for the various components. They let you see exactly where you are and what's ahead. For example, my first lesson in Education 301 was "New Thinking," followed by "Building Blocks," then "Student Impact," on through a quiz to see if I'd mastered the concepts. At all times I was able to move around very easily, going back to the "Main Menu" or "Directory" or to the "Catalog." I was also able to use the "Search" button to locate a topic by word/phrase or go to a specific page at any time.

The "Review" button lets you choose from a list of previously covered topics and go over the material again. Colorful illustrations, photos, or animations effectively illustrate topics. …
