Pilot Scheme Helps Trainers Raise Employee's Skills

Article excerpt

Tte Management & Technical Training has signed up to a multi-million pound government employer pilot.

The Teesside-based training institution, reputed for its high quality innovative apprenticeship programmes and vocational training qualifications, has been selected as a provider as part of the new Employer Training Pilot, eQ8.

TTE's leading position in the engineering, process, oil and gas sectors makes it an ideal training provider to meet the objectives of eQ8. TTE's reputation of being "closer to industry", is a phrase which matches the aim of eQ8 - to work closely with employers to raise the skills levels within their organisations.

The partnership between TTE and eQ8 will have immeasurable benefits to participating businesses and the personal development of the North-east workforce.

eQ8 offers funding for training to companies wanting to train staff over the age of 19 up to NVQ Level 2 standard. The initiative also offers some compensation to reimburse employers for the cost of releasing employees during normal working hours, with particular help for smaller firms.

Keith Hunter, group managing director of TTE Management and Technical Training, commented: "TTE has earned an excellent reputation for the high quality and varied training that it offers. We are thrilled to be included in this unique training scheme, having fully promoted the benefits of vocational education specifically in the Tees Valley for many years."

Demand with TTE has already been high and courses are quickly being filled. TTE expects to register all possible learners well before its January deadline. Tees Valley's employers are being encouraged to sign up to eQ8 immediately to take advantage of the pilot, which ends at the end of August 2005.

Keith Hunter added: "eQ8 is a far-reaching training initiative that has the potential to have a resounding effect on the business community in the Tees Valley. We will be working closely with Business Link and employers to deliver the training and also help them to take advantage of eQ8. By raising the level of skills in this area we are, in turn, raising the standards and the quality of the products and services we provide each other, the rest of the UK and abroad. …
