New Homes Projects for Stockton

Tees Valley Housing Group is hoping to start detailed planning of a venture to provide new homes in Stockton in the near future.

The group is working closely with Stockton Borough Council to plan the future of the site, which currently features Albany House, a former residential home for the elderly.

Situated on Berkshire Road, Albany House is owned by the borough council and is currently disused, and negotiations are ongoing for TVHG to knock down the existing building and replace it with housing.

While the mix of housing has yet to be decided, there could be both starter homes and/or bungalows on the .64 acre site, depending on the outcome of the council's study into the demand for older people's housing and agreement with TVHG.

Another project underway in Stockton is the re-building of a five-bedroom bungalow in Thornaby Road. Run by the NHS, the bungalow accommodates five people with a mixture of physical and mental disabilities, who have been temporarily rehomed while the rebuilding takes place.

While the previous bungalow featured a dormer bedroom in the roof, all of the new bedrooms will be on the ground floor and the building, being developed by Moody Brothers, will be fully wheelchair-friendly. …
