Taylor Rides Her First TAB Winner; Apprentices Show Value with Book Full of Winners

RACING: Apprentice jockeys rode the bulk of winners on the Callaghan Park TAB race card in Rockhampton yesterday and, with good reason, none was happier than teenager Alisha Taylor.

Alisha, 17, rode her first TAB circuit winner at Rockhampton scoring easily on Mystified Moment ($4.30), a Twining mare trained and part-owner by her father Garnett.

"The mare showed us a lot last winter here but she did a knee and had to have an operation," proud dad Garnett Taylor said.

Suited by the slow condition and the extension of all 1000 metres races by stewards to 1100 metres because of safety fears, Mystified Moment won by seven lengths from outsider My Margarita (Luke Dillon, $35.40) with Sirrocco Moon (Trinity Bannon, $15.00) third.

Luke Dillon finishes his apprenticeship next month but continued his winning momentum with twin successes yesterday through trainer John Wigginton's Wal's Boys ($4.20) and Bungalien ($5.20) who are both owned in partnership by passionate Rockhampton racing identity, Col Donovan.
