THE future is looking bright for a Teesside college which is due to move into a new building after achieving outstanding results in A-levels.

In September SRC Bede Sixth Form will move into its new pounds 12m building on its existing Billingham site.

The college, which merged with Stockton Riverside College last year, achieved a pass rate of 99% with many students achieving a haul of top grades.

Miriam Stanton, head of SRC Bede Sixth Form, said: "We are once again celebrating an outstanding pass rate for Advanced level courses. This result is directly related to the hard work of our students and is testament to the dedication of all the teaching and support staff." Student Catherine Matthews will be going to Jesus College, Cambridge University, to read natural science, after achieving five As in biology, chemistry, maths, geology and general studies.

She said: "I would eventually like to end up working in the field of conservation. This is something that I am already involved in as I have taken an active role in Billingham Beck and with the UK Wolf Conservation Trust."

Gemma King achieved As in sociology, psychology, theology philosophy and ethics, and English language. She will be going to Corpus Christi College at Cambridge University to read social and political science. …
