Flagler Hosting Lecture on Jews, Clergy, Nazis

Flagler College will host a lecture about Catholics and Jews in Hitler's Germany at 7 p.m. Sept. 26. The event is part of the college's 2011-12 Cecile and Gene Usdin Judeo-Christian Lecture Series.

The lecturer will be the Rev. Kevin P. Spicer, a Catholic priest who will deliver a message titled "Entreaty and Supplication: Catholic Clergy and Jews in Hitler's Germany." Spicer has conducted research into clergy who were listed by the Nazis according to their political allegiances.

The lecture will take place in the Flagler College Auditorium, 14 Granada St. in St. Augustine. It is free and open to the public and seating is first-come, first- served. Call (904) 819-6400 or visit www.flagler.edu for more information.

PRETEEN GIRLS CONFERENCE

First Baptist Church of Orange Park will host its annual preteen girls conference Sept. 23-24.

"Behind the Scenes" is intended for girls in grades 2-6 and presented by the church's Heart2Heart ministry.

It will include performances by a mother and former beauty pageant contestant who has become a mentor for girls. Participants also may choose from a variety of 45-minute breakout sessions on topics such as character and self-esteem.

The cost is $12 per person or $20 for a mother and daughter or two friends to attend together. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 for the free concert and at 8 a.m. Sept. 24 for the workshops that run until 3 p.m. The church is at 1140 Kingsley Ave. and online at www. …
