ARENEWABLES business started just a year ago has moved into bigger offices after landing a pounds 1.9m public sector contract.
Opus Green, spun off from Opus Building Services to operate as a standalone company, secured the deal with Your Homes Newcastle to install rooftop photovoltaic solar energy systems.
It has now shifted from its original base at the Quadrus Centre in West Boldon where its sister company is still located, to Newcastle Business Village near Longbenton, which has the advantage of improved storage space. Managing director Chris Cassells, who set up the business with sister company boss Gavin Richardson, said: "The speed of growth has been very exciting and being based at the Quadrus Centre has given us the ideal place to launch.
"We'd love to stay but we now need large-scale warehousing space as buying in bulk means we need the storage space.
"We've gone from a two-man office to a six-man office but we've now got the storage space, we've now warehousing facilities for the solar panels. "We secured the big job with Your Homes Newcastle and this also puts us closer to our customer base. It's a great deal for a new business like ours but we had the support of our sister company Opus Building Services." Opus Green, which also supplies heat pumps, energy efficient equipment and rainwater harvesting, forecasts a pounds 500,000 turnover for its first year but is confident that will grow to pounds 1.5m in its second year. …
