A Fighting Chance; Martial Arts Helping Youth Discover Self Discipline

RICHARD Fogarty is waging a war on disengaged youth using just a martial arts master with a white robe and mat.

Almost four months ago, Meridan State College school principal approached the SunnyKids ambassador and youth mentor following his testimonial talks about motivation and life experience to take a handful of students under his wing.

Richard, of RJF Group, put the idea to good friend Brenden Wilkins who runs Core Strength Fitness in Maroochydore.

Brenden didn't hesitate to help get the mentoring program up and running as he and Richard both realised that at certain stages in their lives, martial arts had asaved thema.

Richard and Brenden held a program for students every Thursday morning for an hour at Core Strength Fitness in the Maroochydore fitness centre.

Classes involved talking to students about life experiences, circuit classes, boxing, mixed martial arts and Thai-boxing training sessions.
