All Things Australian at Gallery; Round of Exhibitions Feature Prime ministera[euro][TM]s Wives, Aboriginal Art and Birds

AUSTRALIANA takes centre stage at a new round of exhibitions to go on show at the Grafton Regional Gallery from Wednesday, January 23.

The exhibitions feature a partnership with the Australian Film and Sound Archive, a solo show by respected local Aboriginal artist Bevan Skinner, images of past prime ministersa wives and work from the galleryas collection. The official opening on Thursday, January 24 will set the mood a featuring all things Aussie.

At its centre will be a fair dinkum barbie at 5pm, accompanied by thong throwing, Aussie accent competitions and live performances.

aThe Aussie opening at Grafton Regional Gallery launches the Clarence Valley Council Australia Day celebrations for 2013 a it is a great opportunity to celebrate the creative achievements of our wonderful country,a Clarence Valley Mayor Richie Williamson said.

The delicious barbecue will be put on by the Friends of Grafton Gallery. The opening is free, with bookings to 66423177 for catering purposes.

On the exhibition menu is The Art of Sound a a major show presented by the Grafton Regional Gallery in partnership with the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.

It examines the intersections between sound and the visual arts. The selected Australian sound recordings consist of songs, speeches, experimental works, oral histories, orchestral compositions and environment recordings. …
