AGOOD human resources team can have a massive impact on the firm which employs them and we are on the lookout for the best. The search has begun to find the best companies to work for in the North East and highlight employees who have gone the extra mile for their bosses.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has teamed up with The Journal to recognise the region's top employees and companies.

There are eight awards including HR&D Team of the Year Award. This recognises the impact a team has had on the organisation, whether it is a new initiative or helping to drive a new culture in a firm that has helped drive the business forward.

The North East Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development HR awards celebrate those people who have worked above and beyond the call of duty in recruitment and training.

It all culminates in a ceremony at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on April 18, 2013. And this year the awards are in association once again with Nigel Wright Recruitment.

The judging of the event is most important. A panel of independent CIPD committee members and the relevant award sponsor and associate sponsors Nigel Wright select carefully the finalists and winner. Past winners of the awards include John Lewis, Nexus, Northumbria Police, North Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes.

Event organisers expect the gala event to be better than ever this time and attract more than 370 people to cheer on the winners. They are already taking bookings for tables.

The Journal's editor Brian Aitken said: "These awards have run for the past seven years. The Journal is delighted to back these important awards. Our business is all about people and that's what these awards focus on. …
