CSXT E-Business Area Gets New Chief

Ganson Evans has been named vice president of sales, marketing and e-business at Jacksonville's CSX Transportation Inc.

In addition to his current responsibilities for capital, revenue growth, planning and market strategy, Evans also will be responsible for the development and implementation of e-business tools designed to make it easier, more productive and less costly for customers to do business with CSXT.

Evans joined CSX in 1998 from Conrail, where he held several senior posts in the sales and marketing arena. Evans previously led the sales and marketing department at CSX Intermodal.

CSXT is the third-largest railroad in the eastern United States.

Logistics luncheon

Dave Kulik, president and chief executive officer of TNT Logistics North America, is the scheduled guest speaker at next week's meeting of the First Coast Roundtable of the Council of Logistics Management.

Kulik will discuss an alternate and more effective supply chain strategy that deals with eliminating inventory costs and developing longer term savings for companies.

The Sept. 9 meeting will be at the University of North Florida's University Center. Registration will be at 11:30 a.m.; lunch at 12 p.m. The event costs $25 in advance, $30 at the door. It's open to anyone with an interest in logistics. Call Pricilla Miller at 390-1308 for information.

Passenger report

The Air Transport Association reported that systemwide revenue passenger miles declined 8.4 percent in July, compared with the same month in 2001.

Domestic revenue passenger miles declined 7.1 percent, and international RPMs decreased 11.6 percent. A revenue passenger mile is the industry term used to quantify the volume of business; one RPM equals one fare-paying passenger transported 1 mile. …
