Health Sciences Center Creates Visitors Board

A University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Board of Visitors has been created, with Adm. William J. Crowe Jr., former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as chairman.

The board will serve as goodwill ambassadors, counselors and advisers to the state's only academic health science center. It was named by Dr. Jay H. Stein, senior vice president and provost of the OU Health Sciences Center.

Members include: Ray Ackerman, Ann Alspaugh, Dr. Michael Anderson, Max N. Berry, Elizabeth Blankenship, Dr. John Bozalis, Dr. David Brown, William M. Cameron, Dr. Robert Drewry, Christy Everest, Dr. Sam T. Hamra, Jane Harlow, Sarah Hogan, Stephen A. Janger, Stephen J. Jatras, Lou C. Kerr, John E. Kirkpatrick, Frank McPherson, Charles Nelson, Mike Samis, John Snodgrass, James R. Tolbert III, Kenneth W. Townsend, Dean Werries, Martha Williams, James N. Young Jr., and Stanton L. Young.

In addition, the first OU Health Sciences Center Community Lectureship will be kicked off at the spring meeting of the Board of Visitors Friday, April 8, at the Waterford Hotel.

Dr. Jesus Medina, chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the OU Health Sciences Center, will speak on "Cancer in the '90s" during a luncheon at the hotel.

Medina is president of the American Cancer Society, Oklahoma Division, and nationally recognized expert on cancer of the head and neck.
