Macklanburg-Duncan Division Head Retires

Pat Flores, president of the floor covering and engineered products division at Macklanburg-Duncan Co. in Oklahoma City, is retiring after 25 years with the firm.

His retirement will take effect Thursday.

Flores began his career at Macklanburg-Duncan in the aluminum extrusion area, and he has held other positions within the company, including vice president of operations. In January 1987 he was appointed executive vice president of floor covering and engineered products and in 1992 was appointed president of that division, which is based in Gainesville, Ga.

He has always been in Oklahoma City, and has covered the division from here.

Past memberships include member and past president of the Society for the Advancement of Management, member and past director of the National Adhesive and Sealant Council, member and past director of the Oklahoma Wildlife Federation, member of Grand National Quail Club, Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the Council for Established Industries of Oklahoma and several other professional and charitable organizations.

Darwin Frankum, currently vice president of Georgia operations, has been promoted to succeed Flores as president. David Lyon has been promoted to executive vice president of sales and marketing for the division. Charles Goforth has been promoted to vice president-controller for Macklanburg-Duncan. . . Dana L. Hare, director of operations for DMG Management Inc. in Norman, has attended the course "Managing the Management Company," presented in Phoenix by the Institute of Real Estate Management. Hare is a licensed Oklahoma Real Estate Broker and is a member of the Norman Board of Realtors.

The course stressed the importance of clarifying and developing a view of an organization through vision and mission statements, formalizing plans and strategies and understanding the correlation of behavioral traits with specific property management tasks.

Other topics covered included valuing a property management company, trends and future opportunities, client relations, risk management, the employment cycle, negotiating the management contract, company finances and ethics. . . "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing" is the title of the fifth annual Fair Housing Conference scheduled April 6 at the Century Center Hotel. Advance registration is $20 and registration at the door is $25.

McUsic has 15 years of project management and estimating experience.
