Lead member of the English rock group the Beatles, John Lennon was a talented artist, writer, poet, and musician. After the Beatles reached stardom and eventually disbanded, Lennon enjoyed continued artistic success with his wife and partner, Yoko Ono. In 1980 he was murdered by a gunman outside his New York City apartment building.
