My name is William L. Wade, LVT, LATG. I was born in Jamestown, New York, on June 24, 1954; but grew up on the north shore of Long Island in Port Jefferson, a harbor town. After high school, I tried college at the SUNY at Alfred, but during the second year, I realized that I was not prepared. In February 1974, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a veterinary specialist and served for ten years. In 1983 I transferred into the U.S. Army Veterinary Service and completed eleven years of active service. I retired in October 1994 having served over twenty years of active military service.
In November 1994, I accepted the position of manager of Veterinary Laboratory Animal Care at the School of Veterinary Medicine, at Purdue University. In March 1999, I accepted my current position as manager of Compliance&Training at Northwestern University in Chicago.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, taking short trips around the Midwest whenever we can, or visiting family in New York, Georgia, and South Carolina. Playing golf is my primary weakness, and I have been addicted to the game since childhood. We have also recently purchased my dream car and are in the process of restoring a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner that we hope to take to auto shows throughout the Midwest.
My initial involvement came through service in the military at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. I was initially assigned as an instructor at the Animal Care Specialist School, the Army’s equivalent
