APPENDIX BThere follows a transcription of the prosification of the PMC found in N, the
oldest and best of the manuscripts of the CVR. The text of N has been
transcribed in full without editorial interference, except in the instances
mentioned below. Thus, the minor inconsistencies of spelling and language of
the type found in most chronicle manuscripts are faithfully conveyed here,
although this particular manuscript is well composed. It contains very few poor
readings, and it is never nonsensical. References to the folios of N are given at
the side of the text; a and b refer to the columns of the recto, c and d to the
columns of the verso. In the transcription capital letters and lower case letters and punctuation are
according to modern practice, except that the written stress accent is not used.
Otherwise, the precise spelling of the manuscript has been respected, except
for the following cases:

OF THE PMC
FOUND IN MANUSCRIPT N OF THE CVR
|1. ||Consonantal u has been changed to v.|
|2. ||Final s and z can be difficult to differentiate in the script. Therefore,
modern practice has been followed. In particular, surnames have been
standardized to end in z, where it is uncertain whether s or z was originally
|3. ||The abbreviations of N have been expanded, and the letters added are
italicized in the text. The additions follow the spelling of the particular word
when this is found in full elsewhere in the manuscript. There are just a few
exceptions to this, cited immediately below.|
|4. ||Om̅e, om̅s are never found except in shortened form. They have been
expanded to omne, omnes.|
|5. ||Ihū Xpō, xpianos (or minor variations) are also never found in expanded
form in the manuscript. They have been transcribed as Ihesu Christo, christianos.|
