Goal 1: To strive for continuous improvement of the teacher education programs at the preservice level.
Goal 2: The redesign of senior year experiences: to include a realistic introduction to teaching and a strong theory/practice connection (Phase I); to examine the field experiences to ensure connection to a sound conceptual framework through (a) adopting a developmental model for field experiences and (b) integrating field experiences into all teaching methods courses (Phase II); to prepare beginning teachers to assimilate into the school culture through (a) orienting clinical instructors in each field experience to be reflective; (b) to model the best practices in their teaching; and (c) to offer a rationale for their instructional decisions (Phase III).
