James Hudson’s biography appears at the introduction to his speech of February 26, 1955. Reverend Hudson begins the following Palm Sunday sermon to Howard University students and faculty with the predicament facing the Jews of Jesus’ time. For them, they all sought freedom—salvation from Roman rule. Several different groups represented different paths they could take. Some advocated armed struggle. Others contended that acquiescence was their only way to survive. Still others said they should put up with Roman rule and just wait it out. On whom should the Jews have relied? Hudson argues that Jesus was their only true hope, as the Reverend details.
