9 Reflections
We have been considering, throughout this book, how Harry explores all areas of learning through following his individual interests. In this final chapter, we look briefly at Harry's interests now, aged 9, and we consider what we have learned, from observing Harry, that we can use to understand other children's development and learning.
Harry's interests now aged 9
Harry says he enjoys
playing football (he plays in a local team and trains two or three times a week)
Playstation 2
playing golf (goes to the driving range once a week)
Charades
Scrabble
ten pin bowling (goes occasionally)
Air hockey (a kind of executive pinball game).

Colette says that there are many obvious links between Harry's strong connecting schema and his current interests. He connects with other people through playing team games. He physically connects with the objects used in sports. He plays 'Charades' and 'Scrabble' at every opportunity. Here he is finding connections between words or phrases. He continues to create opportunities to solve problems. She says he is still [very much his own person] but that he [takes others into
