Session aims and preparation

Key learning aims
Students:Understand the concepts of public and private
Recognize which thoughts and feelings should be kept private and which can be shared in public
Start to understand the impact that words can have on other people

General aims

Students:Show greater sensitivity to others by understanding the impact of our words and actions on others
Have increased safety in the wider environment by not carrying out private acts in public
Respect other people's need for privacy

Link area of PSHE and Citizenship Curriculum

Students recognize the impact of their actions and words on
others. They are able to put self in other's shoes and to show
care for others


Materials needed

Set of public signs pictures, set of public places pictures, set of
private places pictures, sorting hoops, public sentence tape (any
commercially available tape would do), private/public places
worksheet, feelings worksheet


Suggested additional materials

Hats and scarves for role-play
