TAILOR YOUR STRATEGY TO
YOUR AUDIENCE
One of the biggest mistakes amateur persuaders make is to treat all audiences the same. There are at least six different types of audiences and each one requires a different persuasion strategy.
Six Audience Types
1. The hostile audience. This group disagrees with you and may even be working actively against you.
1. The neutral audience. They understand your position but still need convincing.
1. The uninterested audience. These people are informed about the issues you want to discuss but couldn't care less.
1. The uninformed audience. They lack the information they need to be convinced.
1. The supportive audience. This group already agrees with you.
1. The mixed audience. This group has a cross-section of differing attitudes and views.
