SuSan DuDLeY GOLD has written more than three dozen books for middle-school and high-school students on a variety of topics, including American history, health issues, law, and space. Her most recent works for Benchmark Books are Gun Control in the Open for Debate series, and Roe v. Wade-. A Woman's Choice?, Brown v. Board of Education-. Separate but Equal?, and The Pentagon Papers: National Security or the Right to Know—all in the Supreme Court Milestones series. She is currently working on three more books about Supreme Court cases.
Susan Gold has also written several books on Maine history. Among her many careers in journalism are stints as a reporter for a daily newspaper, managing editor of two statewide business magazines, and freelance writer for several regional publications. She and her husband, John Gold, own and operate a Web design and publishing business. Susan has received numerous awards for her writing and design work. In 3001 she received a Jefferson Award for community service in recognition of her work with a support group for people with chronic pain, which she founded in 1993. Susan and her husband, also a children's book author, live in Maine. They have one son, Samuel.
