SO MANY PEOPLE WERE INVOLVED in helping me write this book that it is impossible to acknowledge everyone. However, I’d like to start off by thanking my editor, Christina Parisi, and the editor of my two previous books, Adrienne Hickey, for their support and confidence in me. I’d also like to thank Veronica Wales and Carol Thomas for the assistance they provided me in answering my technical questions.

As always, I’d like to acknowledge my four primary mentors, Joe Thompson, Tom Lastowka, Bill Snyder, and Paul Gustavson, as well as the many other people who have mentored me over the years, including but not limited to Pat McLagan, Peggy Hutcheson, Paul Draper, Karmie Kalmanowitz, Rick Nappi, Barry Jackson, Herman Greenspan, Dan Kowalski, Dan Bisgrove, John Coghlan, and Montgomery Watson.

A special thanks as well to Pamela A. Posey, D.B.A., for everything she has taught me over the years.

To my government friends such as Dennis Kuewa, Gloria Young, Grant Singleton, Pat Amberg-Blyskal, Ed Russell, Lynda Russell, Susan Fishbein, Bob Dolan, Ben Weisbroth, Paul Koons, Ken Clark, Michele Kwok, Mike Harris, Julius Williams, Debbi Greitzer, Bob Epley, Steve Simmons, Jenn Kler, and many others I did not mention: I want you all to know that I appreciate your service to this country and am honored to have you as part of my life.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t also thank the following outstanding physicians for their assistance in helping me recover from my personal trials
