Risk managers are leading advocates of ERM. As a result, a number of organizations have surveyed them to learn who they are and how they perceive their responsibilities. In this chapter, we examine and interpret the findings of recent surveys. Marsh was particularly active, working with the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), from 2004 to 2008 and completing these surveys of ERM professionals:
RISK QUOTE: In the case of sawmills, it is not a question of if it
will burn but when it will burn.
—LANCE EWING, PROMINENT RISK MANAGER
RISK QUOTE: A jury consists of 12 people who determine which
client has the better lawyer.
—ROBERT FROST, POET
