FOR CERTAIN professions or positions, a nontraditional résumé is preferable. For example, you may need to use more than the standard two pages, as is the case in the academic world, or you may need to describe projects you have managed rather than give the particulars of a job. In these instances, hiring authorities know exactly what they are looking for, and they want to see it in your résumé.
For example, the people who look at architect Dwight Germer’s résumé (page 164) know what HKS is—that is, they know exactly what Dwight’s duties and responsibilities are. But they want to know what kind of projects he has worked on, so his résumé provides this information. Similarly, Professor Louis Gasper’s résumé (page 174) is
