Motoring: Hot Peugeot a Hard Case

HOT on the heels of a hat-trick of rally success, Peugeot has turned up the heat on its top-selling hatchback.

Built at the French manufacturer's UK plant at Ryton, Coventry, the Peugeot 206 GTi 180 is intended to follow in the scorch marks left by the legendary 205 GTi.

With a 2.0 litre engine developing 180bhp tucked under the bonnet, this latest version of the 206 is about as close as you can get to the racing Peugeot which has dominated the World Rally Championship for the past three years.

But despite its competitive pounds 14,995 price tag this hot hatch is definitely a driver's delight - and a passenger's nightmare.

But only the most serious of enthusiasts will be prepared to endure the excesses, the hard ride and rasping exhaust, of this car.

Sexily appointed with stylish alloy wheels, a deep mesh front air scoop, rear spoiler and twin chrome exhausts, this version of the 206 has everything going for it.

The same is true of the interior which is gorgeously appointed.

It sticks to the road like glue and with long gear ratios it is a gem of a driver's car that loves life in the upper echelons of the rev band.
