Colleges, Universities to Start Classes on June 9 as Scheduled

Classes in colleges and universities will open on June 9 as scheduled, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said yesterday.

But some colleges have scheduled either an early or late opening of classes. For example, the government-run Philippine Normal University (PNU) will open its Manila campus on June 16.

Education Secretary Edilberto de Jesus announced the other day that the opening of regular classes in many public and private elementary and secondary schools has been reset to June 16 to allow teachers and parents to undergo beginning on June 9 seminars on the prevention of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
