Mindanao Leaders Welcome Bush Aid Pledge

MARAWI CITY Mindanao leaders led by Dr. Mahid Mutilan, vice governor and education secretary of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), welcomed yesterday US President George Bushs pledge to support the development of Mindanao during the latters eight-hour state visit last Saturday.
Mutilan, who is also the president of the Ulama League of the Philippines, said the commitment of Bush to develop Mindanao is very timely with President Arroyos program, Mindanao Initiative or Mindanao Natin. (See related story on Page 16.)
I am highly optimistic that this will enhance the prospects for the countrys economic recovery and the attainment of a lasting peace in Mindanao, Mutilan said. We in Mindanao are elated over Bush showing his deep concern to develop Mindanao. We thank President Arroyo for the Bush visit to the Philippines.
Mindanao State University (MSU) President Cr. Camar A Umpa, who attended the state visit of Bush, described the partnership of Arroyo and Bush as a right equation as both are capable of finding the right formula to solve their respective countries problem.
This noble cause that Arroyo and Bush is doing for their people would be rewarded …
