Marti's Health Scare; WET WET WET SINGER RUSHED TO HOSPITAL AFTER COLLAPSING IN HOTEL

Byline: GERARD BURKE

SINGER Marti Pellow was at the centre of a health scare last night after collapsing in a luxury hotel room.

The Wet Wet Wet frontman was found unconscious by paramedics after they were called to his room at the exclusive Conrad Hotel in London' s Chelsea Harbour.

He was taken to the accident and emergency department of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and discharged after treatment.

Police were also called to the hotel as a matter of routine because the star had been found unconscious.

An ambulance was called to the hotel shortly before 9pm on Saturday. The 33-year-old singer is now said to be recuperating after his ordeal.

Mr Pellow had been with his band - one of the most successful Scotland has ever produced - in London to record a new album. But he is believed to have taken Saturday off to spend the day with friends who discovered him in the hotel room.

Model Eileen Catterson, the pop star's fiancee, is thought to have travelled south from the couple's [pounds sterling]500,000 home in Dunbartonshire to comfort her partner.

The couple, one of the most enduring among their generation of celebrities, have been together for nearly a decade, since they met at a football match in 1990.
