New Name, New Goals for Maxwell Online

Following the death of rogue entrepreneur Robert Maxell, the rumor mill ground away at high speed as to the fate of Maxwell Online. The most prevalent rumor suggested that the company was on the block and that those controlling the estate of the late Maxwell were eager to sell. In late Spring there was even a rumor that a major online vendor was on the verge of purchasing Orbit. That rumor, like so many others, proved to be false.

Now, one year after the mysterious demise of the infamous wheeler-dealer, Maxwell Online has emerged with a new name and a new mission according to Andrew Gregory, president and CEO of the former Maxwell Online, now referred to as InfoPro Technologies. Gregory made the announcement of the new corporate identity at a press briefing held during Online/CD-ROM '92 in October. "We've been through a transitional period since I came on board a year ago. During that time, we've begun refoucusing our online information services so they can more readily take advantage of their inherent strengths and ultimately achieve what we believe to be their greatest market potentials. We have also increased developmental support for our BRS Software Products division," Gregory stated.

InfoPro Technologies' two online divisions include BRS Online Products and Orbit Online Products. BRS' products include BRS Online Service, BRS Colleague, BRS After Dark, and BRS Morning Search, which will focus on providing comprehensive medical information. The company's other online division, which features the Orbit Online Service, focuses on patent and patent related information. BRS Software Products provides information management software solutions.
