RANGERS' new striker Federico Nieto hopes to copy boyhood heroes Gabriel Batistuta and Hernan Crespo and take the Champions League by storm this season.
The 21-year-old Argentinian became Alex McLeish's fifth signing of the close season as he agreed a six-month loan deal from Almagro with a view to a five-year deal depending on how he settles in Scotland. Rangers beat off offers from Argentinian giants River Plate and Boca Juniors as well as Real Sociedad to get Nieto.
And he he grew up idolising Argentinian legends Batistuta and Crespo - now he wants to match their success in Europe.
He said: "Gabriel Batistuta and Hernan Crespo were my idols.
"I have modelled my game on both of those strikers.
"It is my ambition to play in the Champions League as I have watched other Argentine players compete at that level and I would be proud to do that at Rangers. …
