Bank of England Braced for Bingham
The future of the senior management of the Bank of England (central bank) depends on the contents of the report of an inquiry into the Bank of Credit & Commerce International (BCCI) which is due to be released to the UK parliament this autumn.
The full report on the inquiry, carried out by Lord Justice Bingham, was handed to the UK Treasury earlier this year (MEED 31:7:92). Reports in the UK press said that the report contained criticisms of the Bank of England and the majority shareholders.
The UK Treasury says that UK Chancellor Norman Lamont is to release a report to parliament after it starts its new session on 19 October. No indication has been provided of what is ā¦
